METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL 2013 ENTRIES


The 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is a part of the annual film festival in Metro Manila, Philippines that will be held from December 25, 2013 until the first week of January, 2014.  During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters in order to showcase locally produced films.  The following are the eight (8) official entries for this year.

10,000 HOURS
10,000 hours is the journey of a man who has lived his life by the law and for the law. But, he is also a man betrayed by the law.  Starring in the movie are Robin Padilla, Michael de Mesa, Alden Richards, Bela Padilla, Mylene Dizon, Carla Humphries, Pen Medina, Joem Bascon and directed by Joyce Bernal.

GIRL, BOY, BAKLA, TOMBOY

A case of mistaken identity, when one of the siblings is caught for the other's supposed act of stealing, leads to the two pairs' reunion. But instead of rejoicing, the quadruplets bicker, apparently due to their different upbringings. It doesn't help that their parents have issues left to settle.  Starring in the movie are Vice Ganda, Maricel Soriano, Joey Marquez, Ruffa Gutierrez and Christine Reyes, JC De Vera, Ejay Falcon, Kiray Celis and Xyriel Manabat and directed by Wenn V. Deramas.

KIMMY DORA: ANG KIYEMENG PREQUEL

The movie is a prequel and the final installment of the Kimmy Dora film series.  It is set before the events of Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme wherein the twins are seen disputing the ownership of the family corporation.  The film was inspired by the James Bond film series in terms of musical score and visual effects.  Starring in the movie are Eugene Domingo, Ariel Ureta, Joel Torre, Angel Aquino and Sam Milby.  Written and Directed by Chris Martinez.

KIMMY DORA: ANG KIYEMENG PREQUEL TRAILER


PAGPAG: SIYAM NA BUHAY

The movie is about a group of friends accidentally visit a funeral and each of them unwittingly breaks one superstitious belief after the other including the dreaded pagpag as each of them went directly home after the funeral.   Starring in the movie are aniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Shaina Magdayao and Paulo Avelino.  Also starring are Matet De Leon, Janus Del Prado, Miles Ocampo, Clarence Delgado, CJ Navato, Michelle Vito, Dominic Roque, Manuel Chua, Eric Froillan Nicolas, Marvin Yap and Dominic Ochoa.  The movie is written by Joel Mercado and directed by Frasco S. Mortiz.

MY LITTLE BOSSINGS

In this film, the man also known as Bossing plays the role of Torky, a bookkeeper working for Baba, a millionaire cash management specialist. Because of some conflict in her business that puts her life in danger, Baba entrusts the safety of her son Justin to Torky who takes him home to meet his niece Ice and Ching, the street urchin that the latter took under her wing. Given that Justin is not particularly fond of Torky, how all four of them would get along under one roof becomes the focus of the story.  Starring in the movie are Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino, and Ryza Mae Dizon and introducing James Bimby Aquino Yap.  Also starring Jose Manalo, Paulo Ballesteros, Barbie Forteza, Neil Colleta, Neil Sese and Ms. Jaclyn Jose.  The movie is directed by Marlon N. Rivera.

KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD

Dubbed as the Philippines' first ever Hip Hop Dance Musical film inspired by the music of Francis Magalona starring Sef Cadayona and Yassi Pressman.  Also starring are Alma Concepcion, Mayton Eugenio, Alireza Libre, Pia Pilapil, Brylle Mondejar, Arnold Reyes, and William Angeles. Introducing Guibo Codog, Michelle Cornejo, and Jason Zimmerman.  The movie is written by Maria Eliza Cuyugan Lizaso and directed by Eliza Cornejo.

PEDRO CALUNGSOD: BATANG MARTIR

"Pedro Calungsod, Batang Martir" is a historical epic adventure film about the life and martyrdom of the Filipino saint that changed the Marianas forever.  Pedro Calungsod, a young Filipino man, leaves his Visayan native roots to join the Spanish Jesuit priest Fr. Diego de San Vitores in his mission to the Marianas Islands (Guam) in 1668.  Starring in the movie are Rocco Nacino, Christian Vazquez, Jestoni Alarcon, Ryan Eigenmann, Robert Correa, and Victor Basa.  Also starring Alvin Aragon, BJ Forbes, Carlo Gonzalez, Arthur Solinap, Mico Palanca, Cholo Barretto, Geoff Taylor, Johann Santos, Isadora Valasquez, Ruby Ruiz, and Mercedes Cabral.  The movie is written and directed by Francis A. Villacorta.

BOY GOLDEN

"The Arturo Porcuna Story" promises an action-packed thriller reminiscent of well-beloved Filipino action classics.  The movie is set in the 1960s, the movie is based on the life of a notorious Manila gangster, Arturo "Boy Golden" Porcuna.  Starring in the movie are ER Ejercito and KC Concepcion.  Also starring are Eddie Garcia, John Estrada and Tonton Guiterrez.  The movie is directed by Chito S. Roňo.
