THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL EFFECTS OF OBESITY

People are getting bigger and i am pretty sure we are not evolving into giants.  We are growing sideways.  Obesity rates probably approaching nearly half of the adult population by just looking at the people at the malls.  The increase rates of obese children is also alarming.  While health practitioners are working to figure out a solution to this problem, the economic and social effects of obesity is slowly being seen.

The health effects of obesity are well documented but the economic and social effects are just coming into play.  Cities are redesigning seats on public transportation and other places were people gather and take a seat.  Gas consumption also increased.  Over 39 million gallons increased per year for every additional pound increased to the average weight.
